House Plant Know How for Apartment Living-image

It’s summertime, which is the perfect time of year to add some green to your apartment. Today the Luxury Apts WNY Blog is sharing ideas for which house plants do well in an apartment setting, as well as tips for how to display plants. Choose the right plant for you and your home. For example, if your apartment doesn’t get a lot of sunlight, choose a plant that’s okay with that. If you aren’t home a lot, find one that’s okay with little watering. Read on to learn more.  Display Plants Using Hanging Planters This idea is a perfect way to creatively add greenery to your place. You can easily hang these pots from your window sill, while not using up counter or table space. Not to mention they’re beautiful! For this project, you’ll need chalked paint, a paint brush, string, and a terracotta pot (or 2 or 3!). After painting the pot, you can use the tutorial guide to see how to twist and tie the string onto the pots. That’s it! You now have a beautiful hanging pot. House Plants Buy plants that are good for living indoors. Some plants that work well would be spider plants, aloe vera, snake plants, dracaenas, palms, philodendrons, and succulents. Many plants are also great for purifying your home . Some of these include peace lilies, rubber plants, bamboo palms, snake plants, and dumb canes. Here is some more detailed information about some of our favorite options for house plants:  Aloe Vera The aloe vera plant is useful in many ways. It’s a great detox ingredient, skin soother for burns, and hair conditioner. It prefers lots of light and little watering. Check out the link above for more information on what type of soil, container, and watering it needs to thrive. Spider Plant “These tough plants tolerate lots of abuse, making them excellent candidates for newbie gardeners or those without a green thumb. Provide them with well-drained soil and bright, indirect light and they will flourish. Water them well but do not allow the plants to become too soggy, which can lead to root rot.” Learn more at the link above. Succulents Succulents are a popular item to grow indoors. They require very little care and look beautiful. Buy a variety of them for a fun succulent garden that will look great in your windowsill. Peace Lily The peace lily thrives with very little light. This plant needs very little humidity but its soil should be consistently moist. The peace lily is beautiful — with deep green leaves and white flowers — and it’s perfect for anyone who prefers to keep their rooms dark. Grape Ivy Grape Ivy is a beautiful plant that look great in a hanging basket. They require low-light generally and need to be water consistently during the growing season. Learn more from the link above. Cast-iron Plant Cast-iron plants are another variety of plants that require very little care. They can tolerate low temperatures and very little light.  We hope this information is helpful for members of our WNY apartment community! Let us know what your favorite house plants are in the comments.

Apartment Living-image

With a host of options for apartments for rent available in Western New York, finding the right one for you can seem like an overwhelming task. But it doesn’t have to be if you take the apartment search one step at a time. Try the tips in the blog from Luxury Apts WNY this month for things to keep in mind as you’re looking for the best apartment for you. Determine the scale. Find the general vision of what you’re looking for in a home by thinking about a few different things, like what sort of feel or aesthetic you’re looking for, and how big of a space you need. Measure your furniture, go through your clothes, and donate, sell, or throw away anything you don’t love anymore anything that doesn’t fit well or anything that’s broken and not easily fixable. Sort your criteria. Size isn’t the only aspect you should consider in a new home. List out what other aspects of a home you want and sort them in order of importance. How much do community amenities, such as on-site fitness centers, bike rooms, libraries, or community landscaping, matter to you? Do you need something pet-friendly? What are you looking for in a location? Write it out and make note of which things you need and which you can be more flexible on so you can find a home that matches up with as many of these criteria as possible. Tour smart. Take a tour once you’ve narrowed down the options to a few you could see yourself living in. This is the fun part, as it makes your search feel more real and it gets you even closer to finding your dream apartment. Bring a friend you trust to be an extra set of eyes and to give an objective opinion. They can ensure you ask all the necessary questions (about work done on the home, the culture of the apartment community, noise levels, and navigating the area, for example) and they can validate the opinions you form based on your tours. We hope these tips help with your apartment search! Thanks for taking the time to read our post.
